I'm looking for a book where the author interprets some of the Bible's most controversial sentiments?

I'm doing a research report and I remember someone talking about a book that takes the more controversial elements of the Bible and the author offers his interpretation of what they mean. It might be taking a more liberal perspective I'm not sure. All I remember is that one of the author's names is Ken or Kevin. I thought it was called 'For the Bible tells me so' but I've searched online and haven't found anything. I understand that this question is very vague and I'm not offering a whole lot of information, but any help is very much appreciated. Thanks.
