Why do so many people use akuma instead of ryu?

Im guessing that it's their personal preference. I use Akuma more because his Tatsu is faster and stronger than Ryu's, and thats one of the key things when doing combos with them. His hyper is faster than Ryu's too. Ryu has a lot more health than him though.
