Can you be a geologist and believe that the earth is 6,000 years old?

I would encourage you to read Finding Darwin's God: A Scientist's Search for Common Ground Between God and Evolution. It was written by Kenneth Miller, a Professor of Biology at Brown University. He may not focus completely on the geology aspect, but he does address it, and explains much about biology. Very interesting stuff.
