Thinking of changing my major? Advice needed.?

I'm currently a sociology major who just finished my first year in college. I originally wanted to attend law school, but based on what I've researched the job outlook really isn't looking good for attorneys in the future. The last thing I'd want to do is wind up settling as a paralegal and have trouble paying the extremely high student loans. My heart's not entirely in it, but I was considering changing my major to the physical sciences area to better my employment chances. The job outlook looks pretty good for geologists and I certainly wouldn't have trouble paying off my future debt. Is this right? I know most people try to tackle their dream career, but my chances as a successful lawyer seem slim enough and a sociology degree offers so little. I need to make a relatively comfortable living for both me and my future family, because I come from a working class/poor background. What are your opinions?
